Managing In-Grown Hairs

Are you plagued with ingrown hairs and not sure why? You are not alone!

In-grown hairs are generally caused by a blockage in the pore which  prevents a hair from growing through the pore as normal and causes it to turn back on itself. They can occur anywhere on the body where there is hair growth and can create a nuisance causing infection, soreness and in extreme circumstances deep internal hair growth requiring more advanced intervention.

The most common areas to experience in-grown hairs are the face and legs - both of which will be noticeable and fairly easily resolved. These are often caused by over-drying shaving gels (particularly for men) or excessive waxing and even sometimes by llaser hair removal. In all cases a regular exfoliation with ISSADA 14% Glycolic Scrub will remedy the problem with ease unblocking the pore by removing dead, dry skin. If this is a regular problem for you or your partner then consider ditching drying shaving gels for the gentle power of ISSADA Daily Gentle Cleansing Gel which makes a convenient " one and done " product for use in the shower to both cleanse and shave.

Additionally a good moisturiser will also help -for the face  try our ISSADA Enzyme Resurfacing Moisturiser which will gently slough off dry skin, hydrate and moisturise all in one or for body areas try our ISSADA Recovery Complex - a deeply hydrating lotion that rapidly absorbs and is ideal for use after waxing, laser and shaving.

Finally as a world of caution our clinic regularly sees four by four car drivers with extremely painful in-growing hairs on their "derrière" - these are called a pilondial sinus and if left too long can require an excision to remove deep growing hairs!
