Complementary colours are shades that sit directly opposite each other on the colour wheel. When used together, they create a bold and impactful effect. For instance, blue and orange; green and red; and yellow and purple are all complementary colours. By experimenting with these shades, it is possible to create stunning makeup looks that will make your clients feel confident and beautiful.

An exact example of using complimentary colors in your Eye makeup would be; if you have blue eyes, applying your complimentary colour Orange or versions of orange. A Bronze, rose gold or terracotta shade will make your eyes truly pop! Issada's 2Spicey mineral baked shadow, Desert sunset neutrals Palette or Liquid Metals in shade Copper or Brass to name a few!

But complementary colours aren't just about creating a striking look; they can also be used to correct specific skin concerns. For example, red and green are complementary colours. If you have redness in your skin, adding a green-tinted product can help neutralise it. Similarly, adding orange to blue areas of the skin can cancel out dark circles and brown spots on medium to deep skin tones. And on fair skin, adding blue can help to neutralise sallowness and hyperpigmentation.

Purple and yellow are complementary colours that help neutralise dull yellow undertones on light to medium skin tones. Adding yellow can cancel out purple or blue tones and correct mild redness. In summary, understanding colour theory is crucial to excel in the application of makeup - whether you are a professional makeup artist or a consumer. By experimenting with complementary colours, you can create stunning looks that make your clients feel confident and beautiful. With the Issada Cosmeceuticals eyeshadow collection, you have the perfect tools to start exploring the power of colour theory in your makeup artistry.
